We are a group who meet monthly to read and discuss poetry. Each of us chooses a couple of poems, where possible providing our fellow members with a copy of the text at the meeting. While each of us has our favourites – Fleur Adcock, William Blake, John Clare, Gillian Clarke, TS Eliot, Carol Anne Duffy, Thomas Hardy, Seamus Heaney, John Keats, Philip Larkin, Michael Longley, Edward Thomas all come immediately to mind from recent meetings - we also aim to extend our knowledge by looking at the work of poets we know less well. Rather than being restricted by a theme, members have a free choice of what they bring, so we range from about the sixteenth century or earlier to the present day. It may seem haphazard, but it works, and we enjoy it.
