u3a Leicester Trip to Charlecote Park 22/09/2925
Charlecote Park has a history going back to the 12 century The Lucy Family have lived in The House Continually
The Parkland was done by Capability Brown The House was transformed in 1800
The collection in The House has beautiful carved furniture, amazing ornaments, portraits of The Lucey e Family through centuries and the ceilings are stunning.
The kitchen made you realise how hard it was for cooks and cleaners all food was cooked on coal fired rangers. The kitchen saucepans made of cast iron All laundry was done in tubs by hand ironing was really hard using an iron made of cast iron
It was a wonderful day walking around the park the scenery seeing deer and the well maintained gardens
Thank you to Sue Took for arranging this really enjoyable trip
